Call me old-fashioned, but I get nervous when future or current world leaders talk about destroying art for whatever the reasons may be. I understand the reasoning, but it contributes to dangerous precedent whenever art conflicts with the moral authority of those who can destroy. Remove it from Buckingham Palace where it is considered part of a financial asset and donate it all to a private museum where it can be defined back into a work of human expression. Make that your gesture. Be smart about it.
There’s plenty of art that was created in the history of mankind that came to be through questionable means. Trying to erase our mistakes with short-sighted acts robs the next generation of being able to learn from it.
